Brazilian Studies Programme - Visiting Academics

The Brazilian Studies Programme (BSP) is part of the Latin American Centre (LAC), and is currently run by Dr Andreza Aruska de Souza Santos. Professor Timothy J. Power, currently Head of the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies, also supervises academics visitors. We welcome suitably qualified academics and practitioners who wish to contribute to the research and activities of our centre. The research focus of Brazilian Studies within the LAC is as follows:

  • Comparative Politics of Brazil.
  • The International Relations of Brazil and Brazil's evolving position in the global order.
  • Brazilian Social Movements.
  • Sociology of Brazil.
  • Urban Ethnography in Brazil.

If you wish to be affiliated with the LAC, your research should fall within one of the broad areas defined above. For further information on how to apply please go to the Visitors section of the website.

Please note that the LAC does not accept visitors whose research is in linguistics, literature, cultural studies or environmental studies, as those disciplines are not taught within our centre. Instead, you may wish to contact our colleagues in the Sub Faculty of Portuguese (for linguistics, literature and cultural studies) or the School of Geography (for environmental studies).
