Fernanda Kagan Mallak is a Sociology PhD candidate at Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) and CAPES Foundation fellow (Brazilian Ministry of Education). She holds a BA in Social Sciences from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP) and MA in Territory Planning and Management from the Federal University of ABC (UFABC). Since her undergraduate studies, the topics of land conflicts in urban areas and the right to housing permeate her academic research. She has collaborated as a researcher at the Observatory of Evictions (UFABC/USP), Laboratory of Territorial Justice (LABJUTA/UFABC) and currently at SAGEMM - Social activities, gender, markets and mobilities - Latin America (UFSCar). Under the supervision of Prof. Cibele Rizek, her doctoral research aims to understand the effects of forced evictions and repossession on the dynamics and territorial management of the outskirts in the São Paulo Metropolitan Area - Brazil - as well as the effects on the daily lives of families subject to these processes. She is a Recognised Student at the Latin American Centre for Michaelmas Term 2021 under the supervision of Prof. Andreza Aruska de Souza Santos.
